Entropy-Coherence-Resonance Model (ECR)
ECR frames “development” as a measurable shift from high internal disorder (entropy) to higher coherence, freeing attention and energy for perception, learning, creativity, and connection.
Core concepts
- High entropy: chronic threat response, dysregulation, attentional fragmentation
- Low entropy: regulation, stable attention, social safety, reduced cognitive noise
- Resonance: alignment between internal rhythms (breathing, heart, attention) and social context (co-regulation)
What it predicts
- Regulation practices should improve:
- Emotional recovery time
- Attentional stability
- Prosocial behavior
- Wellbeing metrics
- Safe community contexts should amplify those effects.
Nested Observer Window Theory Model (NOWT)
NOWT is a conceptual model for organizing consciousness across nested scales of processing and experience.
- Sub-windows: specialized modules (interoception, emotion, memory, prediction, etc.)
- Mid-window: the felt unified “I” (integration / binding)
- Macro-windows: group-level coupling (co-regulation, shared attention, culture)
- Source window: the “ultimate” layer as a philosophical hypothesis (kept interpretive)
What NOWT is not
- Not proven ontology.
- Not “consciousness collapses wavefunctions” as a settled fact.
- Not a replacement for neuroscience.
What NOWT tries to explain
- Why unity of experience can arise from distributed processes
- Why regulation/coherence changes perception and agency
- Why groups can synchronize (emotional contagion / co-regulation)
- How “meaning” might arise from integration
